Dowerin Machinery Field Days 2025

July 27, 2025

Every August, the Wheatbelt town of Dowerin transforms into a vibrant hub of agricultural innovation and rural pride. The Dowerin Machinery Field Days, now one of Western Australia’s largest and most iconic agricultural events, is more than a machinery showcase. It is a celebration of heritage, community, and the enduring importance of sheep farming.

The Field Days began in 1965, and, in 1974, sheep were officially introduced, marking a pivotal moment in its evolution. This addition reflected the increasing importance of wool and meat production in the region and broadened the event’s appeal to livestock producers and rural families.

Former Field Days president, John Metcalf, recalled, “Even though I was right into machinery, there were just a handful of people standing around at the first event. But later, the enjoyment came from volunteering, following family and the sense of community.”

For those who have not attended, Dowerin is truly a special event, showcasing what can happen when a group of volunteers come together. Each year, around 400 locals contribute to the event’s success - covering catering and logistics to welcoming guests. The money made goes towards the local community and improving their facilities from hockey to football and everything in between. Generations of families have played a role, creating a sense of pride and continuity that defines the Field Days, and this is why Milne Feeds is always proud to attend.

Milne Feeds has been a long-standing supporter of the livestock focus at Dowerin. As Western Australia’s leading suppliers of animal nutrition, we’ve been a regular sponsor and exhibitor, using the event to connect directly with producers and showcase our range of sheep and livestock feeds.

Our presence reflects a broader commitment to supporting rural communities and sustainable farming practices. Our team will be on-site, offering expert advice, product information, and insights into how our pellets can help improve your livestock operation.

We’ll have both familiar and new faces at the Milne Feeds site this year:

  • Colin Lotzof, from the Flybuster team, will be available to answer any questions. FLYBUSTER® was originally developed in Israel, where intensive farming close to residential areas led to the development of a fly management system that is effective, easy to use, and safe for both animals and people.
  • David Syme, the heart of our grain trading operations, will also be on-site. With deep industry knowledge and a practical understanding of local conditions, David is available to discuss your grain marketing options. He’s also happy to walk you through the swaps and offset program we’ll be running this coming season.

As global markets increasingly demand our meat, WA’s sheep industry is poised to profit from this growth. The Dowerin Field Days provide a vital platform for producers to connect, learn, and innovate, thus ensuring the future of the industry. The 2025 Dowerin Machinery Field Days promise an unforgettable experience. Here, sheep are more than livestock; they’re a symbol of Western Australia’s agricultural heart, one we are proud to be part of.

We look forward to seeing you at Dowerin this year. Make sure to stop in at the Milne Feeds marquee located in the Ram Shed. For more information, call Paul Nenke today on 0407 720 040.
