You may have already seen a new face in the yards and on the road! Dr Holly Ludeman has joined Milne AgriGroup as Group Veterinarian and is already out and about across sheep, beef and dairysystems.
An Agricultural Scientist and Veterinarian (BSc Agr (Hons), BVMS), Holly brings extensive experience across the Australian livestock industry. Her background spans sheep and cattle production, feedlots and the broader livestock supply chain, with a strong focus on animal health, welfare and practical, on-farm outcomes.
She’s not one for sitting behind a desk. Since joining Milne, she’s been spending time on-farm, in feedlots and in the paddock, getting a feel for how different operations tick - because no two businesses are the same, and that’s exactly the point.
From intensive finishing systems to supplementary feeding programs and pasture-based enterprises, every farm has its own rhythm, pressures and performance drivers. Holly is passionate about understanding those differences and working with you to make nutrition fit your system, not the other way around.
Over the past decade, Holly has worked closely with producers, feedlots and exporters across Western Australia and nationally, supporting livestock preparation, regulatory compliance and performance optimisation. She has experience preparing livestock for domestic and international markets, navigating animal welfare standards, and working within complex supply chains where detail and accountability matter.
That experience gives her a strong appreciation for the bigger picture and how decisions made in the paddock influence performance outcomes further down the chain. It also means she understands the commercial realities facing producers, from seasonal variability and feed availability through to market specifications and cost pressures.
Alongside her veterinary work, Holly has been heavily involved in industry engagement and communication initiatives aimed at strengthening understanding of Australian livestock production. Through that work, she has developed a particular interest in helping producers adapt to change, improve systems and confidently communicate the standards under which they operate.
At Milne, she is working closely with the nutrition team to connect feed strategy, animal health and welfare outcomes with real production goals. Whether it’s refining a finishing ration, supporting dairy transition feeding, improving rumen function, managing metabolic risk or lifting welfare outcomes through better feeding programs, the focus is simple: practical solutions that deliver measurable results.
Holly has a strong focus on how nutrition underpins resilience in livestock systems, supporting growth, reproduction, immune function and overall performance in a way that is sustainable and commercially viable. She sees feed not just as an input cost, but as a strategic lever that can improve efficiency, welfare and productivity when aligned correctly with each business model.
You’ll see plenty of Holly on farm, at industry events and in the yards. She’s keen to understand what drives your system, what challenges you’re facing and where nutrition can make the biggest impact.
Because good nutrition isn’t one-size-fits-all and neither is your business.
P.S. Livestock nutrition is her job. Farm dog selfies are her weakness.
