Mingenew Field Days & Dongara Depot Update

August 24, 2023

The Mingenew Field Day was well attended this year, with many exhibitors. Milne was proud to be there to support the locals and all the work they do. It was a great opportunity to catch up with local farmers.  The general feel is that many in the area are having a poorer year in their cropping operations.  With some of the crops definitely needing a drink or two, they are not up to the same standards as last year.  There’s speculation that some lupins may not even be harvested due to their being below the height of a beer can.

It is always good to see so many people at the field day who have such a positive outlook for agriculture across WA, despite some disappointing crop forecasts.  There were over 200 exhibitors at the show and crowds attended over two days.  As Andrew Cosgrove said: ‘It is the power of human connections and face-to-face interactions that has kept the expo going for 40 years’.

Dongara depot owner, Jamie Marsden, joined the team in the Milne stand and was on hand to talk with farmers and discuss their needs. Jamie has a great deal of energy and a strong belief in the sheep industry.  When we visited his depot, his passion and enthusiasm were clear to see, given the investment he has made in infrastructure. Jamie has been very busy looking after the feed requirements of the sheep and beef industry in his area. He has LambGro®, EasyOne® and EasyBeef® in stock at the depot. The Dongara depot is definitely worth a visit - it is good to see the endeavours of our young people in agriculture.

One of the farmers that paid us a visit at the expo was Fred, from Hill Padua Polls, who is one of our loyal customers.  Fred was first introduced to Milne Feeds products through the Dowerin Field Day and has never looked back.  He uses EasyOne® pellets to get the best results from his sheep. Fred was displaying the family’s rams at the Mingenew Show and certainly generated a lot of interest. He also picked up some LambGro® at the field day, whilst he was there.

Milne Feeds congratulate the organisers of this year’s event and look forward many more successful Mingenew Field Days.
